Here’s the bike that just put three Scott riders atop the podium at the Cape Epic mtb race! The Scott Spark has been revamped for 2017… a new design blurs the line between “xc” bikes and “trail” bikes. This is the ultimate machine for those wanting something light, but still want something to handle high speed descents and technical rock filled trails. As mountain biking evolves around the world, we are seeing trails of all types available. Whether you have a perfectly groomed flow trail out your backdoor or a rutted out mountain to play on, this bike is ready for the challenge.
The geometry has changed a good deal this year, head tubes are 1 degree slacker than previous models. This creates a bike that handles well when approaching a speed that will break the sound barrier. A shorter chainstay will be a nice addition for those who wish to throw the bike around a corner, lower standover will help you lean it over even further in the turns! Seat tube is a bit steeper and provides for a balanced ride and better power transfer. The bike is still a single pivot design but you will notice the orientation of the shock and rocker link have changed. This allows for better small bump sensitivity and the most efficient pedaling possible. The twinloc is still a part of your arsenal, allowing for three distinct ride settings that can be adjust by a simple lever on your handlebar. Scott is the only company offering this and they even spec it on every bike in their line!
Scott has several different specs for the spark this year that will fit every new bike buyer’s budget. The bike below has a carbon frame, high end fox suspension, sram 1×12 eagle drivetrain, tubeless dt/syncross wheels, and a fox transfer dropper post. It is ready for some epic rides! Most of the line is built for more aggressive riding… dropper post and a Fox 34 fork make this bike very adept to different varieties of trail. After all, why not have a bike capable of conquering it all? They also offer a full on xc race version appropriately named the spark rc.
