Campagnolo Record 11

While most bikes are built with Shimano or SRAM components, Campagnolo is rarely seen. It is not like the others. Some may say it is the absence from the common market that makes that heart grow fonder or perhaps it’s the rich cycling heritage? There will always will be a debate on which brand is better, but the answer often comes down to purely personal preference. One thing is for sure – the fit and finish of the 2012 Campagnolo Record Gruppo is superb. Custom bikes are a passion of ours around the shop, and we have been lucky to have finished many of these carefully spec’d, bespoke bicycles in Campy. After the build we also stock the small parts, shifter rebuild kits, Ut bearings, cables and chains.

Now Stocking Scott Bikes

We are very proud to announce our new brand that we will be carrying, Scott Bicycles. A long history of product innovation in several sports shows us that this brand will continue to progress year after year. A full range of bikes for beginners to pros are available for men and women in road, mountain, triathlon, city, and youth bikes. Each bike is available in a variety of sizes too. Scott also offers a large selection of frames. Scott engineers strive to create some of the lightest bikes available through new and improved carbon manufacturing processes. The CR1 series of bikes use a SDS: shock damping system in the carbon frame and fork. This design absorbs shock and vibration created by irregularities in the road. This concept results in a very smooth and stable ride, reducing rider fatigue and making any ride more enjoyable. Pictured below is the CR1 Elite features full Sram Rival and Mavic Ksyrium elite wheels. We have been riding an older CR1 for a year now and is really happy with the way it rides. Below is just a taste of the bikes we are carrying.

Next up are the Speedster line of bikes which use a lightweight butted aluminum frame for the foundation for each of the different price levels. The Speedster S20 below has Shimano 105 shifters, derailleurs, and Crank for super smooth shifting. Matte black and red paint really give this bike an amazing look while flying down the road!

The Speedster S30 is a great bike for the cyclist who wants an excellent performing bike, but is trying to be easy on the budget. Shimano’s new 10speed Tiagra gives you the same gear range of higher end bikes and it works really well. We are very impressed with the feeling it has during shifting. A lot of times bike companies will use a cheap brake that gives you a really bad feeling in the lever, this is not the case here. We really like the Scott brakes on this bike, they felt smooth and powerful.

Scott has applied the same geometry from the heavily praised Carbon Scale 29er’ to it’s Aluminum Scale lineup. The custom butted 6061 aluminum Scale 29 Team is a lightweight and durable hardtail. Kevlar beaded Schwalbe Rocket Ron tires will give you great traction on the trail. Shimano hydralic disc brakes and a 30-speed slx/deore drivetrain round out the parts giving you a great value in a big wheeled bike.

Dakine’s White Knuckle Glove features a stretcheable and windprrof shell. 100g Thinsulate for insulation and Clarino synthetic suede with silicone gripper finger tips to pull that lever when needed.

A family member of mine brought a foreign exchange student from Germany into the shop today to check it out. His father works at Mavic and he was pretty alarmed at the excessive amount of automobiles on the road in the states. It was very interesting to get his perspective involving our reliance on the automobile. This 15 year old kid had lived an entirely different life from me. He rides his bike to school everyday, how cool is that? I just ended my three year car free life and am very happy to be able to ride other places than my surrounding areas. The first place I went in my car was to ride the amazing trails at Brown County. I am very happy to be able to drive again as my car can take me to places I dream about riding. I will still try and to commute by bicycle regularly, especially since I live close and I read this very informative article over on the Fuckgas site today.
